Zonta International is a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. The Zonta Club of Para District Area is part of Zonta International District 23 comprising Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania.
The Zonta Club of Para District Area was chartered on 3 January, 1978, the second club to be established in South Australia. The late Dr Heide Taylor OAM was instrumental in arranging for women in the northern suburbs to join this special service organisation, and it was only through her persistence that she met her aim in this regard.
Since that time members of the club have been actively involved in providing both hands-on service and financial support to a number of community organisations, largely within the area broadly covering the cities of Salisbury, Playford and Tea Tree Gully. In addition it has provided financial support to a variety of international service projects organised biennially through the auspices of Zonta International. All efforts go toward the Zonta aim of improving the status of women world wide through service and advocacy.
It has been meeting at various northern Adelaide venues since then. For the past fifteen years or so, the Club has held the monthly dinner meetings at the Ibis Styles Adelaide Manor near the corner of Main North and Port Wakefield Roads, Gepps Cross. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month from February to December.
